Gorilal Trekking Safari

5 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking Experience
Uganda is Africa condensed, providing the best of the continent. This small but stunning destination is home to Africa’s tallest mountain range, Rwenzori Mountains. It is the source of the mighty Nile, and around Jinja offers the best white-water rafting in the world. It has the highest concentration of primates on earth, including the majestic mountain gorilla, one of the rarest animals on earth.

Safari Itinerary:
Day One: Kampala – Lake Mburo National Park
Meet and greet will be at 0600hrs at your hotel before departing Kampala. Drive west with a brief stop at the Equator for some ‘was at the Equator’ memorable photo moments. Your drive continues to Lake Mburo National Park. Arrive is in time for lunch at your lodge and a short rest. Enjoy the afternoon boat ride on Lake Mburo. This is the most popular activity in Lake Mburo National Park.

The boat ride provides great opportunity to observe mighty hippo and crocodile populations. Water bird species are often too numerous for the keenest birder to identify all. Lake Mburo National Park supports over 350 bird species including rare but regularly seen species like African fin foot and white-backed heron. The rarely seen Papyrus Gonolek may come to the edge of the papyrus if called using a recorded bird call.

You will have a great experience coupled with stunning scenery and panoramic landscape views that will impress upon you true African beauty. Later take a sundown game-drive to end your day in an adventurous style. You will be searching for zebra, impala, eland, buffalo, oribi, Defassa waterbuck, leopard, hippo, hyena, topi and reedbuck. You will drive back for dinner and overnight at your preferred accommodation. (Transit Time: 5hrs.)

Day Two: Lake Mburo - Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Wake up to the rhythm of nature. After coffee attend a briefing by a ranger-guide at 0530hrs. Embark on a two hours safari walk to a salt-lick area called Rwonyo where many animals are attracted by the salty rocks. You may encounter hyenas returning to their dens and hippos retreating to the lake. Return to the lodge for breakfast before a game drive. Lake Mburo wildlife was boosted with the re-introduction of 15 Rothschild giraffe from Murchison Falls National Park.

This is the smallest national park in Uganda and it has been without giraffe species since it was gazetted. On the game drive you may see large herds of eland (Africa’s largest antelope). Other antelope species that may be sighted in the park include topi, bushbuck, sitatunga, common duiker, klipspringer, oribi, Defassa waterbuck and Bohor reedbuck.

Thereafter exit the park and head to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park to arrive and check in for dinner and overnight will be at your preferred accommodation. (Transit Time: 6hrs.)

Day Three: Gorilla Trekking
After an early breakfast you’ll be transferred to the park headquarters for a briefing by a ranger guide. You’ll enter the Bwindi Impenetrable Rain Forest to begin your adventure. The beauty of this rain forest is spectacular as the area offers a dramatic, steeply forested landscape. Bwindi Forest is incredibly dense, but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to visitors.

The time taken and the terrain vary with the movements of these great primates. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle and endangered giants is an awesome, exciting experience to be long savored. Many find it to be a rare and moving opportunity. Return for dinner and overnight will be at your preferred accommodation.

Day Four: Bwindi – Queen Elizabeth National Park
Early morning transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and proceed to Mweya Peninsula via the Ishasha sector famous for its tree climbing lions. You will have a game drive in search of the lions and other wildlife that includes the elephant, lion, hippo, leopard, buffalo and Uganda kob. On arrival have an afternoon boat cruise which offers an excellent platform for photography and game viewing.

The birdlife is colorful and abundant as there is a wide array of colorful beautiful birds soaring near to the water surface. Among the common species to look out for are the Martial Eagles, African spoonbills, Cormorants, African Skimmers, Pelicans and Papyrus Gonolek, in addition to the occasional hard to pin down Shoebill Stork.

You will be privileged to see schools of hippos and Nile-crocodiles sunbathing. Return for dinner and overnight will be at your preferred accommodation. (Transit time: 5 hours)
