Etosha National Park

Etosha was first established in 1907, when Namibia was a German colony known as South West Africa. At the time, the park’s original 100,000 km² (38,500 mile²) made it the largest game reserve in the world. Due to political changes since its original establishment, the park is now smaller; but still spans 23,000 km² of savanna and shrub lands, supporting up to 114 different mammal species, including the endangered Black Rhinoceros and endemic Black-nosed Impala; as well as some 300 different bird species. The Etosha Pan dominates the park. This salt pan is roughly 130 km long and as wide as 50 km in places. The pan is usually dry, but fills with water briefly in the summer, when it attracts pelicans and flamingoes. Perennial springs attract a variety of animals and birds throughout the year.

Breakfast at the camp, afterwards check out and transfer to another camp in Etosha National Park.

Okaukuejo Restcamp

Okaukuejo Restcamp, located near the southern entrance of Etosha National Park, is famous for its flood-lit waterhole from which visitors can observe wildlife.

Waterberg Wilderness Lodge

The buildings of Waterberg Wilderness Lodge lie sheltered in a long valley in the midst of the Waterberg massif. Built from red Waterberg sandstone they are nestled under enormous old trees. In the mature, well-kept garden with its two pavilions and the bricked-in spring water basin lined by giant bamboo the atmosphere is idyllic and there are many cool and shaded spaces.

In the afternoon guests are welcome to have a piece of cake in the tea garden, and afterwards join a guide on a scenic drive.

The place for a drink after sunset is the campfire or the fireplace at the bar. Fresh dishes from the typically Namibian farmhouse kitchen are served for dinner.
